Tim Walker inspired Wedding Art & Décor
Tim Walker is one of my favourite photographers, he creates wonderful shots using fantastic sets, extravagant staging in amazing locations. Tim’s style is unmistakeable with a whimsical and magical feel using romance, nostalgia and fantasy.
Tim is the best inspiration I have found in fashion so far and think a variety of his shoots can be interpreted into amazing wedding décor. When I think of our wedding, I dream of the perfect atmosphere with bright and quirky décor and entertainment, similar to that of the best festivals we have been too, his images capture this vibe perfectly. Tim’s use of colour is amazing, but all the ideas can be tailored to your colour theme.
- Tim created this masterpiece in 2002, ‘The Dress Lamp Tree’, England. You can create your own version of this to liven up the reception with installation art, you can hang them indoors too. Just find some cool clothes, shirts and dresses work best, and attach a light to a hanger, here is a great tutorial for a light hanger by Design*Sponge. Its best to use LED or low energy bulbs to avoid fire!
- I love the idea of having camping at our wedding as I don’t want our guests to have to spend a lot of money and there is just something great about camping! The idea of having light tents are a great for decorating the indoors or out, you could even cut silhouettes from card to create truly original art!
- Talking of silhouettes this next image is just stunning, simply cutting shapes from cards and attaching them to poles make for a great prop and decoration. Use them in your photos to ensure the group photos are relaxed.
- Pastel Cats is one of my favourite photographs, however I do not believe anyone should dye an animal no matter how cute this would look at your wedding, but Photoshop is amazing for going crazy. This picture inspires me with colour palate and I also think that illustrated multi-coloured cats could make great décor.
- Using trees to hang things from looks amazing, although a bed maybe a little excessive, using a rope you can hoist up furniture or lighting and then decorate.
- Cut out birds by Erin O’Connor make for cool decoration, you could dot them around. Either use card and stick them to walls or make free standing sculptures from foam board, Etsy has got some really great cardboard art including animals and chandeliers.
- Ribbons, have you ever seen so many long beautiful ribbons?! Ribbons look great in large quantities and are inexpensive decoration, hung from chairs, walls and ceilings they look stunning.
- Everyone loves balloons, I am a particular fan of perfectly round ones that look like bouncy balls. They add colour and shape, I love the fact there are just so many balloons this photo, I can just imagine filling this image in with all my friends and family. I think a bizarre balloon sculpture will be at our wedding!
- Polka Dots really make a statement! A really cheap option to liven up the décor, just cut circles out from card and stick them everywhere!
I hope your as inspired by Tim’s Photos as I am! Infact a Tim Walker inspired wedding would be awe-inspiring!
